What renovations will you complete in your “forever home”?
Here at Bournemouth Constructions, we love nothing more than helping our clients turn their houses in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole into homes – and we particularly enjoy being part of a project that results in a family creating their “forever home”.
It seems that the days of renovating a property and moving on quickly are in the past for many people. DIY Week noted that a study conducted by Houzz found that almost two-thirds of people who renovated during 2022 plan to stay in their current abodes for 11 years or longer now that they have refurbished.
What’s more, just over half of the homeowners surveyed stated that they also plan to carry out a home refurbishment project in 2023, rather than moving. Liza Hausman, vice president of Industry Marketing at Houzz, told the news provider that the survey indicates homeowners are “committed to their current homes”.
If you are committed to your current abode but would like to carry out a home refurbishment in Christchurch, Poole or Bournemouth to ensure your property truly meets your needs, consider what kind of refurbishment project might deliver the space you’re looking for.
Do you need an extra bedroom either for guests or because your family is growing? Perhaps you’re still working from home a fair amount of time and need a home office, or maybe your kitchen could do with a proper revamp and you have seen an opportunity to extend your living space.
Whatever kind of house refurbishment you have in mind for your home in Bournemouth, Poole or Christchurch, you can get in touch with our team of specialists at any time to discuss your needs and the project you have in mind.
According to the Houzz research, kitchens and bathrooms are still the most important rooms for homeowners when it comes to renovation projects, and it’s these spaces we tend to prioritise. However, adding an extension is also a popular option for those who have the space to do so. A substantial number of homeowners also recognise that their homes are due an upgrade of essential infrastructure like their plumbing, electrical and heating systems.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, homeowners are turning away from credit cards to fund home improvement projects and are instead opting for longer-term financial products when they don’t have savings available. Given that the Bank of England recently increased the base rate in the country to five per cent, it’s no wonder we’re looking for ways to borrow less.
Of course, however you fund your home improvement project it’s important to ensure that you are adding value to your property with your changes. But we know from experience that it’s about more than just monetary value for most people – what is perhaps more important is the value it adds to your life while you remain in your property.
If where you live now truly is your forever home, then there’s no better reason to carry out your house refurbishment sooner rather than later. To learn more about how we can support you with your renovations, get in touch with us today.
