Outdoor kitchens: a top garden trend for 2022

Garden Kitchen Bournemouth

We recently had a taste of good weather down here on the South coast – with all the sunshine and warmth, summer certainly didn’t feel far away!

If this has made you think about how you can make better use of your outdoor space in Bournemouth, Poole or Christchurch this summer, consider adding an outdoor kitchen to your home – a project we can help with at Bournemouth Constructions!

According to the Yorkshire Post, creating an outdoor cooking area is a top garden trend for 2022. We’re not just talking about having a barbeque in your back garden, but about building a whole space that’s perfect for al fresco prep, cooking and dining.

Of course, a good barbeque grill will more than likely feature in your outdoor cooking space, but you may also want to consider including a pizza oven or even a smoker in your garden kitchen in Bournemouth.

We love a good barbe que at the beach as much as anyone, but when it’s busy in the summer, it’s much more appealing to be able to cook up a storm in the sunshine in your own back garden, where you have access to chilled drinks and a clean bathroom, not to mention not having to worry about sand getting in your food!

You can finish off this stunning outdoor space with room to prep and even a sink with running water, so there’s no need to keep traipsing between the house and your little suntrap when the weather is good.

A garden kitchen in Poole is also a really sociable way to host gatherings with friends and family when the weather is good, not to mention a great way to make the most of the glorious weather we often experience here on the South coast in the summer months.

If you also grow your own herbs and vegetables (another of this year’s top gardening trends!) you can have one of the freshest plates of food going!

We can help you build a fully open or a partially or fully covered garden kitchen, with the latter two options ensuring you can cook outdoors even when the British weather turns.

Ideal Homes recently offered some suggestions for outdoor kitchen designs, recommending the use of low-maintenance materials for a garden space, as well as considering a slimline setup for your kitchen to ensure it doesn’t take up too much of your precious outdoor space.

The publication also recommended getting creative with your storage in your garden kitchen, such as by using trellis or rigging up a handy bar that you can use to hang up the utensils you use most often.

If you love the idea of a garden kitchen, but aren’t sure how one will fit into your outdoor space, contact our friendly and knowledgeable team to get some suggestions and a quote for creating your dream al fresco dining and cooking area. We’ll carry out a survey at your property before making recommendations about how best to proceed.
