Top tips for hiding your kitchen appliances in plain sight

Do you ever look at other people’s kitchens and think that they just look so much neater and tidier than yours? Perhaps you have matching kitchen cabinets, but feel your washing machine door looks out of place next to them?

If a kitchen renovation project in Poole or Bournemouth is on your list of things to do in 2023, we have some tips to help you make your kitchen look amazing, while remaining fully functional.

An article for House Beautiful recently explored how you can make your essential appliances a seamless part of your kitchen’s design, rather than treating them as an afterthought. Kitchen design really is an art, because the aesthetics are only just one part of it – you also need to consider how functional your kitchen is.

Designer Whittney Parkinson told the publication how she ensures that the kitchens she designs are both functional and look fabulous – and we think some of her tips are well worth bearing in mind.

One top piece of advice is to use custom cabinetry to conceal your appliances. Those that are in daily use like your fridge and freezer, or your dishwasher, need to be centrally located in your kitchen for ease of access, but you don’t want them to detract from the overall design of your space.

You can even take a similar approach with smaller appliances like coffee makers, cleverly concealing them in custom-made cabinets on the countertop which means they are easily accessible and your work surfaces look less cluttered.

Our Director Karl has over 25 years of experience in carpentry, as well as general building and project management, so you can rest assured that your kitchen refurbishment is in excellent hands if you would like custom cabinetry as part of the design.

Depending on how much of a culinary whizz you are, there may be some other appliances you want to have easily accessible – in a list of some of the top kitchen gadgets as recommended by professional chefs, Insider highlighted the likes of blenders, food processors and even spiralizers as gadgets to consider adding to your kitchen.

Whatever kinds of dishes you love whipping up in your kitchen, we can help you design and create the perfect space in your home.

It’s often said that the kitchen is the heart of the home and we certainly agree. As well as looking beautiful and being functional, many of the clients we work with want to create a welcoming space where they can relax just as often as cook up a storm.

You may, therefore, want to consider including the likes of kitchen islands or a large kitchen table with some comfortable seating to make it a space you enjoy spending time in with your family.
